Hello, my name is Ajok. I’m a journalism major in my final year of Creative Industries at Western Sydney University, and I love music and creativity. Whether I’m getting up, going to bed, or going outside, I’m always listening to music. I can’t live or do anything without my headphones, so you’ll always see me wearing them.
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, making crafts, trying out new restaurants and cafés, reading, going to the movies, concerts, musicals, or having a self-care day with a face mask while solving puzzles, colouring, journaling, or binge-watching certain films or TV shows.

About Me!
Ever since I can remember, I have always loved music, especially when I was little, trying to moonwalk like Michael Jackson and dancing 24/7, which is when my obsession started and continued to grow when I discovered incredible artists such as Beyoncé, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, Aaliyah and many more from CDs that my dad had burnt music onto. Back then, we watched music videos on MTV instead of Spotify or iTunes.
After that, I was finally old enough to have a phone and download music if I had the money, but the radio was always my first choice for music because it was always available, free, and had interviews with my favourite artists as well as a variety of stations playing different things I wanted to hear. I enjoy delving into the lyrics of the songs I frequently listen to and observing how the artists use their imagination to produce such a classic sound.
Pop, R&B, Jazz, Afrobeats, Indie, Rock, and many other genres are just a few of the genres that I appreciate.
Here are my Top 5 songs of all time!!
- Stevie Wonder – Sir Duke
2. Michael Jackson – Stranger in Moscow
3. Beyoncé – Schoolin’ Life
4. SZA – Go Gina
5. Frank Ocean – Thinkin Bout You
The Start of my Journey
Eastside Radio is a community-based radio station that enjoys giving back and sharing its passion for jazz and the arts with a wide audience. As someone who regularly listens, I completed a training/induction programme last year. On the final day of the programme, I realised that Eastside Radio was the right place for me to grow as a person by learning more about journalism and using my passion for music to connect with people.
I truly feel that music and radio are powerful messages that can be conveyed to people in a variety of ways, including song, art, and movies.
I am very excited and can’t wait to show you everything I will be learning and introducing you to as I continue to develop my love of music/radio, as well as yours!
