Andromache’s Lament – Jenny Game

Andromache’s Lament finds Melbourne composer and saxophonist Jenny Game turning ancient sorrow into chamber jazz with serious emotional gravity. The title piece draws on Andromache from Euripides and Christine Evans’ Trojan Barbie while reflecting on war, grief and survival in 2025. Recorded at Empire Studios the album features Game on tenor and soprano saxophones with Peter Neville on vibraphone and percussion, Michael Currie on five string double bass, Steve Falk on marimbas and percussion and Alex Meagher on daf and hand percussion. Across eight tracks the music blends jazz of Middle Eastern colours and classical textures. It is haunting, thoughtful and never dusty.
The Ark – Anthony Joseph

The Ark finds Anthony Joseph steering spoken word jazz and Afro Caribbean imagination into a bold new vessel. Released by Heavenly Sweetness the seven track album follows Rowing Up River To Get Our Names Back and continues its wider journey through memory history and sound. Joseph is a London based Trinidadian poet, novelist and academic working with producer and guitarist Dave Okumu.
