Co-presented Earshift Music and SIMA, we are thrilled to announce the 2021 Earshift Music Festival. A music marathon of sorts, you’re invited into the homes of great Australian artists for intimate performances across ten consecutive days. Earshift Music Artistic Director, Jeremy Rose will host live artist chats following each performance. The festival takes place online from October 1 – 10, 8pm AEST nightly.
Highlights include Kristin Berardi, Scott Tinkler and Sean Foran who showcase the spectrum of the artform amid varying geographic locations, from Brisbane, Bruny Island (TAS) and Lucerne, Switzerland. Representing the new vanguard, drummer Chloe Kim, saxophonist Flora Carbo and guitarist Hilary Geddes present three very different perspectives on their solo practice, while Melbourne duo Meatshell, featuring 2020 Freedman Jazz Fellow bassist Helen Svoboda and saxophonist Andrew Saragossi, represent a new wave with their mix of folk, improvisation, and jazz.
Guitarist Cameron Undy will present his rhythmic concepts in a special solo set. Trumpeter Reuben Lewis will explore an electronic sound world with his innovative use of effects and pedals. Jeremy Rose will launch his new video series Face to Face followed by a chat with SIMA’s own Program Director Zoe Hauptmann.
We are excited to share this free festival with audiences during this time. The festival is a free online festival however donations to SIMA and Earshift are always welcome via our website.
