THE QUIET OF THE THOUGHTFUL CAVE The Edmond and Joanna Capon Research Library at the Art Gallery of New South Wales was completed around the same time as Sydney Modern but with far less fanfare. In many ways this hush seems apt. The library is after all a work of dignity, repose and quiet contemplation of the arts. But these are also reasons to celebrate architect Peter Tonkin's consummate design. The Sydneyist recently had the pleasure of walking around the building with Peter and this week on THE SYDNEYIST we will be chatting with him about where architectural ideas come from and how to make them real.
