140 artists. 26 concerts. One unforgettable day of jazz. The Sydney Con Jazz Festival returns for its seventh edition, transforming the Sydney Conservatorium of Music into a vibrant hub of contemporary jazz from Australia and around the world.
Set across six world-class concert halls in the stunning surrounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the festival offers a dynamic snapshot of today’s jazz scene — from cutting-edge compositions and international collaborations to feel-good swing and the next generation of rising stars.

Highlights include internationally acclaimed artists Ben van Gelder & Reinier Baas, Kristin Berardi performing with Florian Ross and strings, and Jef Neve with Teus Nobel. Expect bold, genre-defying moments like ZERO x MACE, where hip hop meets big band, as well as major large-ensemble works including the world premiere double big band project Friendly Foe.
Leading Australian voices such as Barney McAll, Spirograph Studies, and the Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra appear alongside award-winning emerging artists including Lucy Clifford, Lauren Tsamouris, Lachlan McKenzie and Sam Gill — showcasing the depth, diversity and future of Australian jazz.
Here a small insight in the music of Lachlan McKenzie:
