The Public Body co-curator, Talia Linz, and Jane Edwina Seymour, Director of ‘The Days are as Grass’, are my guests today. The Public Body .01 explores the sexualized body and, in particular, the types of sexualized bodies that proliferate in the public sphere today – high key, orgasmic, debased, agitated, violent but also self-empowered, vulnerable, revealed, free. The exhibition features the work of 17 contemporary living artists: Abdul Abdullah, A.K. Burns, A.L. Steiner, Tianzhuo Chen, Merlin James, Pope.L, Claire Lambe, Sarah Lucas, Ryan McGinley, Carter Mull, Sterling Ruby, Mark Shorter, Justin Shoulder, Amalia Ulman, Lyndal Walker, Rohan Wealleans, Paul Yore, and is curated by Talia Linz and Alexie Glass-Kantor.

The Days Are as Grass by Carol Hall is a collection of plays that explores the nature of life – the fragility of love and the complexity of relationships in a blend of humour, unerring honesty, tenderness and poignancy. Featuring a stellar Australian ensemble, the show looks into the heart of the human condition – the different roads we travel throughout life, often with ‘destination unknown’. “An entire life in a blade of grass”. Jane Edwina Seymour, an acclaimed Australian actor working in LA, has returned to Sydney to direct the Australian premiere of The Days Are as Grass which was first performed at the Woodstock Fringe Festival in Woodstock, New York, in 2004. Carol Hall, best known for her work in musical theatre, composed the music and lyrics for Broadway hit The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and wrote the lyrics for the debut album of Tony Bennett and Bill Evans, Together Again.
