Deniz Tek is one one the most important figures in the history of Australian rock music. His new book, Full Throttle, is a unique insight into one of the most important figures in the history of Australian rock.
Coming to Sydney in 1972 as a medical student from Anne Arbour, Michigan, Deniz became a driving force in mid-seventies music as a founding member and guitarist of the almost mythical Radio Birdman. In a 50 year career, and with over 100 records, he’s thrilled music fans with uncompromising no-holds-barred playing in Birdman, New Race and a host of other collaborations.
Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, along the way he found time to graduate in medicine, become a US Navy jet fighter pilot and work as an accident and emergency doctor. Oh…and also to be adopted into a Native American Tribe!
In this podcast interview, Eastside’s David Britton talks to Dennis about his remarkable life and his new autobiography, the perfectly titled, “Full Throttle”.
