Hi everyone,

I’m one of Eastside Radio’s newest interns.

A bit about me
I’m a 23-year old teaching student in Sydney. I am passionate about languages and cultures. In addition to English, I speak Kannada and Hindi (Indian languages) as well as a bit of French and Spanish.

I grew up in a family that enjoys music – a mix of Old Bollywood, hymns, 80s hits such as ABBA, Boney M, Jackson5 etc and pop music. This influence definitely made me love music all the more.

What music do I like?

I love listening to some old school RnB like Murder She Wrote. It’s quite the earworm and I keep playing it while I drive. Cheri Cheri Lady and Fast Car are some other favourites. If you were to pull up my playlists, you’d find them on there easily.

I also love musicals, Cell Block Tango from Chicago and the entire playlist from Six are popular drive songs. I’m seeing Six this weekend and look forward to seeing Wicked in the near future.

My interests
I enjoy reading and drawing. I used to draw portraits of my family and also still life as a child. It’s been a minute since I’ve picked up my paintbrush though but want to get back into it soon enough.

I like kickboxing and going on hikes. I want to scale a mountain one day, if my legs can withstand the strain that is.

What excites me about interning for EastSide FM
I was nervous more than anything at the opportunity. Especially walking into Eastside FM and seeing the rows of CDS and Records lining shelves in the studios. It’s daunting at first, knowing that there is so much music out there and learning that you only know a fraction of it (if that).

But in saying that, everyone has been lovely and accommodating. Tony (station manager) and the various presenters who are in and out of the studio at all hours. It’s clear that Eastside is borne from a labour of love and that each and every person here is incredibly passionate about music.

I look forward to enjoying my time and learning more about radio here. Thank you EastSide for taking me on 🙂
