Keith Stanley has painted a big colourful octopus nestling in amongst the coral and seaweed on the Bondi Sea Wall. He is inspired by all the creatures in the ocean, and the octopus signifies the protector of the coral and the ocean ecosystems. Keith’s love of ocean creatures inspired this work as well as the context of Bondi Beach. You can see more of his usual style of fantasy and comic book art on his website, as well as time lapse videos of his work in progress. His output also includes clothing, stickers and guitar picks.
Plus Principal Violin with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Satu Vanska joins us to talk about their national tour of River Live in Concert. Following on from the ACO’s last hit cinematic collaboration Mountain, River Live in Concert explores a natural phenomenon that is integral to human existence and our fractious relationship with rivers around the world.
Writer & Director, Jennifer Peedom has brought together all the different aspects of the project – cinematography, editing, composing and commissioning original music, as well as staging and lighting, over many months of intense collaboration.
The multi-media experience centres around beautiful soaring images of riverscapes, with narration by renowned actor, Willem Dafoe. The musical element of the project includes works by Bach, Ravel, Radiohead and William Barton plus original compositions by Artistic Director, Richard Tognetti. Satu is also appearing as a vocalist, singing works by Radiohead and an original song by Tognetti.
The tour goes to Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and finishing in Perth on 16 February.
