January 23, 2017

Jodi Michael
This week’s Jazz Made in Australia includes the second in the series of profiles of young women instrumentalists, Changing the face of Jazz. Drummer Jodie Michael ( pictured)who was awarded the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award in 2013, is the focus. Jodie has made her musical homes in Wollongong, Sydney and New York. She also gives us the theme for JMIA – Australian musicians who have made a move to the USA. So we hear from pianist Barney McAll and reeds player Adrian Cunningham. That’s why the programme finishes with a track from the Ted Vining trio album dedicated to the memory of the legendary drummer, for Elvin
