About Me

My name is Ida. I’m a 15 year old year 10 student at Sydney Secondary College Balmain Campus and I’m starting my week of work experience here at Eastside Radio. I also love music. Some of my earliest memories are of my parents playing The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten and Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev (and narrated by David Bowie) in the car. I love playing the piano and learning music theory and have previously played the violin. Some of my favourite hobbies are hiking, drawing & painting and reading novels & comics.

Music Taste

AC/DC at Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park

I love listening to music and some of my favourite places in the world are any concert venue. Some amazing concerts I’ve been to include Kraftwerk, Taylor Swift, AC/DC (and Amyl and The Sniffers), Lady Gaga, Grace Jones, Underworld and The Prodigy. 

My favourite music genres include EDM and electronica, hip-hop, pop and rock. Some of my favourite musical artists are Pink Pantheress, Ninajirachi, Massive Attack, Laufey, Magdalena Bay, Björk, Kali Uchis, A Tribe Called Quest and The Beatles. Quite varied, I know.

I also love classical music. I really enjoy going to see the ACO, SSO and Bach Akademie. I’ve had the privilege of learning how to play a wide range of genres on the piano and violin and my experience has really helped me gain an appreciation for all kinds of music.

Why Eastside Radio?

I chose Eastside Radio for my work experience week because I’m interested to learn how I can apply my interests in the workforce. I’m also interested in learning how to operate necessary equipment. I think it’s really important to be able to share music with as many people as possible, and I really admire Eastside’s accessible nature and am excited to be a part of it myself. Overall, I’m really excited for my time at Eastside and everything I’m going to learn this week!
