Dynamic French Duo Tours Australia
The French duo Clotilde and Alexandre are performing their musical collaboration, ‘Madeleine & Salomon,’ around Australia this March.
Vocalist and flutist, Clotilde Rullaud, and pianist and multi-instrumentalist, Alexandre Saada, embrace the feminist American songbook with minimalistic music and a deep, incandescent chant. Their album, ‘A Woman’s Journey,’ reinterprets the humanist and rebellious music of artists like Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, and Billie Holiday in a graceful and unexpected manner, always with the idea that ‘less is more.’
The two-long term friends formed the duo Madeleine & Salomon during a tour of Asia in 2014 after discovering that they shared the same musical aesthetic. In June 2015, they accepted the invitation of the Melbourne Recital Centre and decided to rethink the American songbook in a unique way, subsequently recording the album ‘A Woman’s Journey,’ which was named the best album of 2016 by the French National Radio France Musique, Jazz Magazine, and Citizenjazz.
Tickets for their Australian tour are available now, including the duo’s show in Sydney on Friday, March 9.
