Queer Screen’s Mardi Gras Film Festival returns to Sydney from February 13th to 27th, 2025, bringing together a remarkable selection of LGBTQ+ films from around the world. This year’s event will feature over 150 films, including 20 Australian premieres and a world premiere of the Danish film In Ashes by director Ludvig C. Poulsen.

Festival Highlights Include:
“Young Hearts” – A touching coming-of-age drama about 14-year-old Elias who falls in love with his new neighbor Alexander.
“Somewhere in Love” – A tender story about single mother Nicole finding unexpected romance.
“I’m Your Venus” – A tribute to drag icon Venus Xtravaganza, exploring the life and legacy of the queen.
“High Tide” – A poetic tale about a young Brazilian man who finds solace and love in Provincetown.
“The Shameless” – A gripping drama about Renuka, a butch sex worker, who falls in love with the shy Devika and struggles against societal expectations.
“Layla” – A powerful drama about a non-binary Palestinian drag queen navigating a complicated relationship.
In addition to the screenings, the festival will host talks, panel discussions, workshops, and fun events like Inqueersition: Queer Screen Trivia Night, a beloved highlight of the festival.
