Carrie and The Man In The Attic – Arts Monday

June 30, 2018

CARRIE: The Musical is based on the bestselling novel by Stephen King which explores the trials and tribulations of high school. Whilst the original story of Carrie was one of gore and horror, this production takes a different approach and has a unique twist that’s set to rival any previously seen on the stages of Broadway. Director, Hayden Tonazzi, focuses on the humanity of Carrie White with a reworked and re-imagined vision of this gripping tale which sends a clear message, especially to today’s youth, that when pushed to their limits, everyone has their breaking point. CARRIE: The Musical is presented by Louis Ellis Productions.

Director, Hayden Tonazzi, is my guest today.

The Man In The Attic is a true story about deception and betrayal during the Holocaust. A German couple hide a Jew inside their attic for his protection, but when the War ends, leads him to believe that the War has been won – by the Nazis. Playwright, Timothy Daly weaves an intriguing and tragic story of the man in the attic, as the couple continue to profit from his captivity. The Man In The Attic won the Patrick White Award and continues to play sold-out seasons in France. This is the Australian premiere and is directed by Moira Blumenthal.
