For over 30 years, Maisy Stapleton has followed her heart and worked in arts and cultural organisations, as a Curator, project and event manager, writer, marketer and in management and leadership roles. She studied Architecture at Sydney University, and focussed initially on research, teaching and writing about architecture.
Her first role in the arts was as Curator of Elizabeth Bay House, where she gained a reputation for engaging exhibitions with a heritage and cultural theme. Maisy then worked in a wide range of organisations from the Australian Bicentennial Authority to the City of Sydney, including a stint as the Commissioner of a pavilion at Expo 88 in Brisbane. In recent years she has taken leadership roles, managing small arts organisations and becoming involved in arts policy and management.
She worked as the CEO of Regional Arts NSW, and then spent over 11 years as the inaugural CEO of Museums and Galleries NSW, an organisation established to support and facilitate museums and galleries in NSW. It allowed her to travel widely and work with arts and cultural organisations, from community museums to major state institutions.
Maisy has sat on many arts industry committees and boards, including the NSW Premier’s Arts Advisory Committee and Boards such as Arts Training NSW.
As an Arts Presenter for Eastside 89.7FM Maisy shares her great love for the arts and continues to explore the arts landscape with her listeners.
