Arts Wednesday 29 September 2021

We are still in lockdown repeats mode and this week the spotlight is on unusual musical instruments, which has been a recurrent theme on Arts Wednesday for 21 years!

We start in the first half hour with the pipa andWu Man. The pipa is a plucked string instrument, sometimes called the Chinese harp. I recorded this conversation with Wu Man in 2013 at the Sydney Opera House after she performed a pipa concerto with SSO.

At 11:00 am, I’ll play a conversation I recorded with composer Guy Gross back in 2015. Guy collects and plays unusual instruments and uses them in his compositions.

Other music features different unusual instruments from past shows.

Do keep me company!
