Arts Thursday 2 March 2017

March 01, 2017
Presenter – Bronwyn Rennex
Today I’ll be talking about Art Month Sydney, which runs from the 1-20 March.

Art Month Sydney is a city wide festival that celebrates contemporary art and artists through a rich and diverse program of exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, artists studio visits, tours, precinct nights and more. I’ll be interviewing Artistic Director Barry Keldoulis about some of the things you can see and do during the festival.

Later on in the program I’ll be speaking to interdisciplinary artist Tina Havelock Stevens about her practice, including her performances as White Drummer, in which she drums in locations such as the carcass of an airplane, a replica of her teenage bedroom and even underwater. I’ll play an excerpt from one of her improvised drumming performances.

We’ll also discuss the work that will be featured in the exhibition Double A Side at Darren Knight Gallery – a group exhibition which celebrates the energy and creative output of artists who have played in bands and musicians who have a visual art practice. From 04 March – 01 April 2017.
