In their self-titled debut album, Gadigal-based ambient jazz group Soft Spot has delivered an immersive and genre-bending listening experience. The group is the product of five highly accomplished jazz musicians united by a common vision of pushing the boundaries of convention. I Am – Alice Russel

I Am is soul-singer Alice Russel’s first album in a decade. Vulnerable and bold, it is her most personal work to date, a poignant expression of grief, love and trauma. Since To Dust, her last studio release in 2013, life has revealed itself to Russel with all its cruelty and absurdity—coming to terms with the sudden death of her father, at the same time confronted by the challenges of motherhood, Russel felt the need to dig deeper into her heart and memory. I Am is the product of her emotional introspection.
