SHORT FILM SCREENWRITING INTENSIVE
Write a completed short film script in just five days! Learn from Tropfest winner and Palme d’Or nominee Jonathan Ogilvie and inspiring guest speakers how to take your stories from initial idea through treatment and draft stage, to a finished, polished script ready to be pitched. Story structure, theme, character, roadblocks, arcs, tension, conflict and resolution will be explored as they are used in filmmaking through fast paced lectures and workshops.

Looking to get serious about your feature length documentary idea? Looking for constructive feedback and practical exercises to get you started the correct, industry standard way? AFI nominated producer Dylan Blowen (The Snowman, A Northern Town) will guide you from concept to pitch, with lectures, peer reviews and practical exercises to guide your feature documentary (60 min+) idea to the cusp of pre-production.

TV & RADIO PRESENTING INTENSIVE
Develop your own on-air persona and learn skills to develop your career in the media. This course combines AFTRS Open’s regular ‘Introduction to TV Presenting’ and ‘Announcing and Presentation’ courses plus a day of our ‘Voice Over’ course into one intensive week. You’ll receive practical tuition in on-camera presenting skills including writing your own scripts, conducting interviews on camera, voice over skills for TV and radio, announcing skills, working with autocue and developing your own unique presenting style.

Do you have a great idea for a TV show but need help taking your idea to the next level? Learn the fundamentals of creating viable and original TV drama or comedy series concepts, including working in a team writing environment, in this five-day intensive course. Vicki Madden, a showrunner and writer with 25 years’ experience in the television Industry, will teach you about: the process of concept creation from idea inception to concept presentation, the structure of a TV series, how to run multiple storylines, how to structure a 5 act episode, how to create a written pitch, writing as part of a team and much more!

In this five day filmmaking intensive, you’ll get busy in the AFTRS state-of-the-art studio to take a class picked short film script to screen. Experienced industry filmmakers will guide students with lectures and fast paced practical exercises to conquer the major areas of directing, cinematography, and post production using Adobe Premiere Pro and the AFTRS professional sound Mix Theatre. You’ll learn how to analyse, break down, and rehearse a short script, to plan a shoot and work within a budget, work with real actors, dress a set, record sound, and get the inside scoop on the inner workings of crew roles and a film set.

This ten day Intensive course (delivered over two consecutive weeks) will combine technical training in the use of Avid Media Composer, the non-linear film/video editing application used extensively in most movie and television productions, and also includes an introduction to the creative art of editing for television and practical, hands-on exercises.
