Work Experience @ Eastside FM! – Vedrana S

August 27, 2025

I’m Vedrana Srbinoska, a year 10 student at Caringbah High School.

Being a guitarist, bassist, and singer, music has always been a key part of my life. I play in a strings ensemble, band, and guitar ensemble at school, and have recently spoken in an episode of the Telstra Foundation’s upcoming podcast: DEAR DIGITAL FUTURE. Although I love music, I also play netball and am an avid youth advocator, being a part of my local council’s Youth advisory council as well as the Project Rockit National Youth Collective.

Why Eastside?

Radio is providing me the opportunity to learn diverse skills in a fast-paced environment, and gain hands-on experience in a workplace. Eastside is a community station, making it a great opportunity to connect with people and experience different music styles. Currently, I’m learning how live broadcasting works, as well as the softwares used to make everyday radio happen. I love volunteer work, and I have always wanted to try out radio, being a strong public speaker and advocate, and am finding that Eastside is a wonderful station to do so!

Music

My main genres are a mix of rock, pop, and indie but mostly rock once I started playing guitar. Some of my favourite artists including The Cranberries, Radiohead, The Beatles and Self. The music I listen to has definitely shaped my initial thoughts on coming here, to Eastside, and has inspired many aspects of my life. My favourite song right now is “Callgirls” by Self, coming from their 1999 album Breakfast With Girls. I love their modern sound, as well as the lyricism within all of their songs and albums. This is most definitely a song, or even an artist that I would love to hear on the radio someday.
