My name’s Felicity, and for a couple days this week, I’ll be doing work experience at Eastside Radio.
I’ve known about Eastside for a while now and have listened to it late Tuesday mornings as I can to tune into my godmother, Diana, and her friend Gaz on their Arts Tuesday program. For as long as I can remember, whenever my family and I get in the car, one of the first things we do is turn on the radio. My dad and I love the funny programs, while my mum and brother like the music a bit better. We’ve had many a road trips belting out any song that came on radio, whether it be pop, rock, jazz or anything in between.
I really love the community that Eastside creates, having such a wide variety of entertainment for anyone fortunate enough to tune in. I’ve only been here a couple of hours, but I already know how welcoming everyone here is, and am looking forward to getting to know them better. It’s very exciting to be here and have the opportunity to get a closer look at how radio works.
Throughout the years, my music taste has grown often enough that it probably includes most songs and genres, but at the moment I’ve found myself listening to a kind of pop and alternative mix, and artists like COIN and Saint Motel.
