SUMMERTIME ARTS – Sydney Festival and Destination Sydney Reimagined
SYDNEY IN SUMMERTIME is the theme of Arts Thursday on 13th December 2018.
Destination Sydney has become a tourism catchcry, but the phrase was popularised two years ago, with a ground-breaking exhibition of that name, presented at three of Sydney’s finest public galleries, Manly Art Gallery & Museum, Mosman Art Gallery and the S. H. Ervin Gallery.
Destination Sydney Reimagined introduces 9 new artists and over 130 new works that have been inspired by Sydney’s physical setting, its energy and creative vibe. The exhibition can be seen across the three galleries until 17th March 2019.
Join Maisy Stapleton to learn more about the exhibition and how Sydney stimulates its artists. We will be speaking to SH Ervin Gallery Director Jane Watters and artist Wendy Sharpe. In a later program we will hear from Ken Done whose works are on display at Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
If you haven’t booked your tickets for Sydney Festival 19 – HURRY! – events are selling fast. But even if you have, tune into Arts Thursday for an insight into the concepts and themes behind the festival, as well as some of the events to inspire you.
Meet Sydney Festival Director Wesley Enoch in conversation with Maisy Stapleton in the second half of the program for an inciteful view of the Festival which kicks off on 9th January.
