‘Songs Of The Latin Skies’ – Katie Noonan & Karen Schaupp – Eastside Radio Album Of The Week (3 Aug – 9 Aug)

August 03, 2017

K&K+216

‘Songs Of The Latin Skies’ from Katie Noonan & Karin Schaupp is Eastside Radio’s Album Of The Week. This record is the follow up to their ‘Songs Of The Southern Skies’ collaboration from 2012.

The album is a journey through the great South American songbook of bossa nova, samba, salsa and tango, interpreting work by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Luis Bonfa, Antonio Carlos Jobim and more. The combined force of the two, Noonan on vocals and Schaupp on guitar, creates a unique sound, putting a fresh spin on Latin jazz and classical pieces from the musical masters of South America.

‘We have spent most of our professional lives in very different musical worlds, but we also share a lot of common ground, an unspoken intuitive understanding of the substance of the music, regardless of its style. Our collaboration allows us both to expand our musical worlds, but it also means we put a new spin on this music, while remaining respectful of its origin.’ Karin Schaupp

The album is out through Kin Music, and you can purchase the album and find more information here at the album’s website.
