Frances Madden Returns to the Basement!
Frances Madden, one of Australia’s classiest performers and most talented young song writers, will return to the Basement on Saturday 24th March with her latest show ‘Practical Magic’.
“I’m really excited to be sharing some brand-new material and I hope you love it as much as I do. We’ll be working a crop of new songs into our mix of swing, blues and ballads.” Frances Madden.
Frances’ first show in Sydney for 2018 comes on the back of a successful year including a fruitful song writing trip to Nashville, appearing with the legendary Dionne Warwick, recording with Melbourne producer Chong Lim, a sold-out eight show Australian tour of her ‘Jazz Blues & Classics’ show and appearances at the Wangaratta and the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festivals.
“Frances has a wonderful feeling for jazz and blues standards but what makes her a real stand-out are her original songs and her unique style.” James Morrison.
Frances captivates her audiences with a combination of her genuinely warm stage presence together with a voice and style that are uniquely hers. When she performs her own swinging tunes, beautiful ballads or smokey blues, they merge seamlessly with the timeless classics she interprets. Frances’ original songs have the power to touch and move people. Her music is both ageless and contemporary.
“Frances’ music is a river of original and heartfelt material, truly a creative force not just in the jazz idiom, but as a genuine contemporary songwriter.” Matt Bailey, Fine Music 102.5 FM.
The show takes its title from Frances’ original tune of the same name. In addition to Frances on piano and vocals, the line-up for the show includes some of Australia’s finest musicians.
