Breaking Waves Episode 351: Shai and Geoff on Movies, Poetry and Sydney

By: Hugh Phillips

Podcast: Breaking Waves

This week on Breaking Waves, Shai and Geoff return for another lively episode full of humour, music, movie chat and Sydney events.

The show begins with Shai and Geoff catching up after their break and talking about life back in the Eastside Radio studio. From there, the conversation moves through family, community radio, the Sydney Roosters, movie outings and a review of The Magic Faraway Tree. Shai and Geoff also chat about Michael Jackson, the excitement around a new biopic and the lasting fun of songs like Thriller.

As always, the episode keeps the classic Breaking Waves spirit alive. Geoff shares one of his poems, “Thanks for Reaching Out”, which leads to a very unexpected and very Shai-style interpretation involving China, power and the strange logic of the modern world.

The episode will keep you up to date with Sydney’s goings on. Shai and Geoff highlight Bloodsuckers: Nature’s Vampires at the Australian Museum, a guided tour of Susannah Place in The Rocks and a free community singing group at the Cliff Noble Community Centre in Alexandria.
