Inversion is the act of changing meaning. Our hosts delve into the literary analysis and discuss how contemporary meanings tend to contradict etymology. This raises an important question: How important is context in shaping meaning?

Depending on context, the meaning of the word Inversion itself may change. Disciplines such as medicine, physics and politics contain a plethora of examples. An interesting (and somewhat relevant) contemporary example is political inversion. To most of the world, the political term ‘liberal’ is associated more closely with social progression however this meaning is inverted in the Australian political context.
