The Sydney University Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026 season with a special collaboration with Pacific Opera Studio in the historic Great Hall at the University of Sydney. Conducted by Luke Spicer, the concert features the Sydney premiere of Edward Elgar’s monumental oratorio The Kingdom, a powerful and rarely performed choral work for orchestra, chorus, and soloists.

Composed in 1906, The Kingdom explores the story of the early Christian church and is known for its sweeping choral writing, intimate solo moments, and richly coloured orchestration. Performed by Pacific Opera Studio’s Young Artists alongside the 75-piece Sydney University Symphony Orchestra, this promises to be a memorable evening in one of Sydney’s most beautiful venues.
