MYTHRA ENSEMBLE

June 11, 2016

Musicians Mythra Ensemble joined Arts’ Dr Margaux Dombkins for a live performance. These talented performers are participating in the New Beginnings: Refugee Arts & Culture Festival, which celebrates the talents, skills and cultural diversity of people from refugee backgrounds. Mythra Ensemble’s unique sound is a blend of traditional music of Iran, Armenia, Turkey and Kurdish origin and western styles created by musicians: Anna McDonald (violin and kemancheh), Metin Yilmaz (kaval),  Mustafa Karami (oud, daf, and vocals), Zela  Margossian (piano and keyboard), Elsen Price (double bass), and Adem Yilmaz (percussionist, darbouka and bendir).

The Festival line up will feature live music, dance performances and workshops from artists who draw inspiration from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia. The cultural performers showcase diverse cultural expressions from new and emerging communities with the aim of enriching intercultural understanding and engagement in the broader community.
