Hey Eastsiders!

My name is Amelie, I am 22 years old from Magdeburg, Germany where I am studying journalism with a specialisation in media management. I am currently in the fourth semester of my studies which I am going to spend in Sydney. For the next six months, I will be doing an internship here at Eastside Radio and I am very excited to achieve more practical knowledge.

Two years ago, after finishing a year of work and travel in New Zealand, I spent some weeks in Australia and fell in love with the beautiful city of Sydney. I promised myself to come back whenever I would have the chance to. Now I am able to combine my passion in music, the urge of a return and my studies while interning at Eastside Radio!

Music has always played a big role in my life. I started singing at a very young age; in the car, under the shower or anywhere in public and later on I learned how to play the piano.

Also, music just calms me down in stressed situations and makes it so much easier to clear my mind after long days of work.

When having to choose a favourite genre I would definitely pick Indie Rock; some of my favourite artists are Bastille, Milky Chance, Two Door Cinema Club or The Kooks. But to be fair I do like a lot more genre’s like folk, acoustic and lounge music. From time to time I enjoy to just listen to the charts from the past twenty years while living it up.
