Friends and well-established musicians Clotilde Rullaud (vocalist and flutist) and Alexandre Saada (pianist and multi-instrumentalist) perform together as Madeleine & Salomon. On International Women’s Day, they joined Nick Terry on Thursday Drive to speak about their album ‘A Woman’s Journey’. After revealing to Nick why he is (what the French call) a ‘bobo’, Clotilde and Alexandre explained how they first came to perform together, why they’re called ‘Madeleine & Salomon’ and the crucial moments of a woman’s life that are captured within their show.
‘A Woman’s Journey’ pays homage to American female protest singers such as Nina Simone, Janis Joplin and Billie Holiday, and was named ‘Best Album 2016’ by the French National Radio France Musique and by Jazz Magazine and Citizenjazz. Find the album here and catch Madeleine & Salomon’s chilling live performance.
