Louise Whelan and Marie Mansfield to exhibit at Juniper Hall

July 15, 2016

Artists Louise Whelan and Marie Mansfield will be showcasing their latest artistic creations in their new exhibitions entitled Two Views: Landscapes of a Plastic Universe & The Agricultural Shows of Australia and Close to Home respectively.

Juniper Hall has a fine history of being home to some of their Moran Prize winners exhibitions for many years now, and the traditional continues with Louise and Marie.

Louise Whelan was a finalist in both the 2014 and 2015 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prizes and has been a renowned photographer in the art world for many years.

This latest exhibition is a chance for Louise to showcase her latest work that focuses on some insight into how Australians live today, in particular, those who are involved in the Agricultural culture of Australia.

Agricultural Shows of Australia explores how Agricultural shows connect town, country and city. There are over 600 shows across Australia each year and they can be considered as some of the longest operating institutions in the country.

Landscapes of a Plastic Universe deals with environmental issues concerning waste, in particular, the relationship people have to the plastic water bottle. Both of these themes meld together in one exhibition that shows true talent in the photography world.

Marie Mansfield presents a different exhibition of connection, with her focus going solely on observing people and the world around them and their affiliation with the environment.

Her aim is to capture the “essence of her subject”, whether it be a person, landscape or still life, and to create work that resonates on a personal and emotional level.

Marie was lucky enough to be considered a finalist in the 2016 Archibald Prize and has also had the honour of becoming a finalist in the 2015 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize for her portrait of artist Euan Macleod.

Marie currently lives and works in Sydney and has studied art extensively at University.

Both exhibitions will run concurrently with each other at Juniper Hall in Paddington from the 14th of July until the 14th of August.
