Jammin’ Thursday

Thursdays 7AM

Presented by Anita Mathews

Thursday Jammin’ presenter Anita Mathews is a broadcaster, singer and writer who has been working in community radio for over five years.

“Mostly you’ll hear great jazz standards on my program. There are so many astounding interpretations of the standards and frankly, I don’t know if people write tunes like that anymore! You’re likely to hear tunes composed and/or performed by Ahmad Jamal, Miles Davis, Carmen McRae and Dave Brubeck, and I play a range of contemporary and Australian jazz too.”

As well as performing as a singer in Sydney, Mathews is also writing a jazz musical – ‘Round Thelonious – based on the story of Thelonious Monk and his friend and patron ‘Nica’ – the Rothschild Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter.
