Director, Denny Lawrence and Artist, Amaya Lang are my guests today. Denny Lawrence is the director of ‘All My Love’ that uncovers the untold love story between two of Australia’s most famous writers, Henry Lawson and Mary Gilmore. At the end of the 19th Century, Mary Gilmore was introduced to the young Henry Lawson. As their friendship developed, Mary found herself caught in the midst of an intense relationship between Henry and his formidable mother, the suffragette, Louisa Lawson. This fascinating tale of a forbidden relationship is based on excerpts from the couple’s surviving letters.

Sydney artist, Amaya Lang and Tasmanian artist, Sheila Alati are the creators of ‘Glops’ – an exhibition that appreciates our inner bodies potential for grotesque humour. Glops reflects the artists’ mutual obsession with creating distorted visions of our innards, offering a landscape that delves into its fluctuating, unpredictable, and naturally messy states. This striking collaboration between Amaya Lang’s sculptures incorporating sound and light, and Sheila Alati’s two-dimensional flows of mixed media on drafting film depicts the artists’ shared preoccupations with the body and the different ways they are expressed.
Glops: Tuesday 16 February – 27 February 2016
Kudos Gallery, 6 Napier Street, Paddington.
I look forward to your company 10.30am – 12.00pm
