Experiencing radio for work experience

My name is Hannah, I’m 16 years old. I am fortunate enough to do work experience at Eastside FM for the week. I’ll introduce myself through some standard facts. I am a Year 10 student studying at Caringbah High, my specific interests are English and literature. I love watching movies in many genres, except horror. Some specifics are Marvel, comedies and any classics that my dad thought essential to watch.

One thing about me is that I’ve loved music since a young age, always being surrounded by it. My mum was a competitive singer when she was younger, competing in state competitions, and my dad is probably the biggest Alicia Keys fan. I personally have been playing piano since Year 1. Growing up, I playing jazz pieces and classical, which honestly my sister could probably recite chord by chord due to the number of times I played them still to this day. I have also been to way too many concerts. Within the last two years, I have been to a total of 11. The genres have been all over; if there’s a ticket, then I’m there.

Most recently, I went to see Ed Sheeran with my younger sister. We always listened to him growing up.

A personal favourite live performance of Alicia Keys which my dad introduced me to.

When searching for work experience, I knew I wanted to apply to a radio or news business. This is because journalism and media were career paths have always been an interest. I’ve also enjoyed music from such a young age, and live music is always something I will never get enough of. Coming across this website, I was presented with an opportunity to not only look into media but music as well. Instantly, I wanted to apply. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by a supportive environment and am excited to learn about music and radio from behind the scenes!
