After 43 years here in Paddington Town Hall, Eastside Radio is moving to a new home!

Our need for more space as well as the City of Sydney’s planned renovations of Paddington Town Hall in 2028 means the time has come to say farewell.
And while we’re incredibly sad to be leaving our home, we cannot thank the City of Sydney enough for the enduring support they’ve shown our station over many years.
Their generosity in allowing us to build this community from our very first broadcast has seen Eastside not only survive but thrive, successfully building a fiercely loyal and passionate audience across decades of change.
We’re incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved from our very first home and will greatly miss the programs, the music and the people whose stories now live forever inside the walls of this historic building. More than 10,000 volunteers have been a part of Eastside Radio’s story since we first went to air in September 1983, and we’d like to thank each and every one of them for the contributions they made to this unique institution. Without their time and energy we would never have grown to be the success we are today.

Which is why we now need your support to help us with this move.
The relocation of your Eastside will be the biggest project we’ve ever undertaken in 43 years.
More importantly, time is of the essence here. The relatively short notice of this planned move means we need to act fast – as well as responsibly – as we seek a new home that will set the station up for its next 40 years.
With this in view, the Board of Eastside Radio has established four different sub-committees to help oversee all the moving parts of this project.
There’s an advocacy group to engage with local Councils and key stakeholders; a communications team and a project planning team; and finally a market research collective entrusted with making sure all the decisions made are based on sound evidence and careful deliberation.
The level of immediate support from within the station has been both reassuring and encouraging.

But to make this move work we have to look beyond the station to the wider community.
Eastside’s community of listeners and supporters is an invaluable resource. We know we can draw on the immense talent and knowledge of that community to help us in our search for a new home.
From securing a new location; to writing a letter of support or advocating on our behalf; as well as making a financial contribution towards the cost of moving – any and all input here is greatly appreciated.
For more than four decades Eastside Radio has built a positive and trusting relationship with our community based upon love for our programs and presenters. If you care deeply about our station and would like to make a difference at this crucial juncture, please get in touch with us in any of the following ways.
You can email us on eastsideismoving@eastsidefm.org.
Or you can call the station on (02) 9331 3000 to speak to a volunteer.
And you can reach the Managing Director’s mobile directly on 0412 494 623.
We’re excited by the prospect of change here for the community and the chance to lay the foundations for our next chapter.
In the words of Machiavelli ‘Never waste the opportunity offered by a good crisis!”
