Eastside Proudly Presents

July 22, 2016

EAST_Global_Rhythms_LogoThis September, something special is coming to Sydney. For the first time ever a music festival will be held as part of the Sydney Fringe in the most culturally diverse city in Australia. Global Rhythms 2016 will see artists from all over the country perform at a brand new waterfront location in Glebe. Between a backdrop of both bridges, this event will be an afternoon of beautiful world music, international food, workshops, activities, and environmental sustainability. Proudly presented by us, Eastside Radio, and with support from the City of Sydney, Global Rhythms will be one of the main closing weekend events of the 2016 Sydney Fringe Festival.

Joseph Tawadros, a triple ARIA award winning musician and composer, brings his Quartet to the stage to offer music from their newest album, World Music, which includes music from as many as 63 different instruments. Ajak Kwai makes her long-awaited Sydney debut, sharing her soulful and inspiring music with funky afro-beats reflecting her South Sudanese roots. Grace Barbé‘s sound reflects and celebrates the diverse cultural influences of her Indian Ocean heritage with colourful and energetic tropical-African-Latin fusion that will have the whole crowd dancing. Emily Wurramara from the Northern Territory sings beautiful music in both English as well as her first language, Anindilyakwa. Not to mention all of the other amazing artists, including The Strides, Dieseln’Dub, the Miriam Lieberman Trio, and Afrobrasiliana Soundsystem.
