The Extraordinary Duo Hits Oxford Art Factory

Jean-Pierre Smadja (AKA Smadj) and Mehdi Haddab (Speed Caravan) as DuOuD are the first band to mix the North African oud with electronic technology and they do it with such imaginative freedom that it sets them apart from their contemporaries. ‘Respectfully insolent’ of the oud tradition, this phenomenal duo experiments with classical Arab tunes, original compositions and the warmth of the acoustic instrument, alongside electronic breakbeats, jazz grooves, and metal guitar.

Sydney’s OXFORD ART FACTORY will be their first stop after their WOMADelaide shows and before their Corner Hotel show in Melbourne as part of their 2019 Australian tour. Sydney-Istanbul based singer-songwriter Be Suren’s trio will open the night telling stories about romantic and divine love and growing up between 2 cultures.
