Since 1974, the Open Academy at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music has opened its doors to the wider community, providing opportunities for school students, musicians, teachers, and music lovers of all ages and abilities.

There’s something for everyone — from Kids at the Con, with fun group classes for children aged 3 to 10 to explore the world of music, to Rising Stars at the Con, designed to nurture and support talented young musicians.

Adults can take part in a wide range of Short Courses at the Con, offering engaging and challenging experiences for players of all levels — including those who may not have had the opportunity to study music before.

The Academy also presents workshops and festivals across a variety of instruments and styles, catering to different ages, skill levels, and musical interests — from beginner to advanced.

All courses are led by expert tutors, with classes held at the Conservatorium as well as selected online options.
