Spring has descended upon us, the sun is shining, and spirits are high, allow us to recommend two special events that will enhance and boost your dopamine levels to really compliment this Springtime.
Eastside’s multitalented Claudia Chan Shaw is excited to announce her new exhibition, Final Curtain, launching on Saturday 30th September at the Art Atrium. In addition to this unmissable exhibition, Claudia is pleased to be taking part in an Artist in Conversation with Simon Marnie on the 7th of October on ABC Radio Sydney.
You may wonder what Claudia’s Final Curtain exhibit entails, in her own words “Final Curtain is an evocative photographic series exploring the enigmatic world of abandoned structures and objects. An Art Deco theatre stands derelict; its only inhabitants the cooing pigeons that now call it home. The projection room is frozen in time, as if its occupants have just stepped out for a moment. A flea market trades in cherished memories, passing them from one soul to another. Each image is a portal to an untold story, concealed in the midst of decay. The photographs are printed on textured flock and embossed wallpapers and linoleum, that echo the forgotten interiors, suggesting a tangible link to those who once inhabited these spaces”.
Claudia is an embedded member of the Eastside FM family, presenting the Arts Show on a Friday, one of the iconic weekly shows here on Eastside, a true listener’s favourite. We hope to see you at the Final Curtain exhibits and on the 7th of October at the Art Atrium for her conversation with the ABC.
