Bittersweet Productions performances of rare one-act plays from across all points in history is back on again for another season! Catch the performances on the 21-22 August at Darlinghurst’s famous Eternity Playhouse, where the talented crew of Bittersweet perform three plays filled with deft humour, existentialism and wonderful surrealism that is sure to leave oneself full of entertainment.

The three plays that will be performed inside of the heritage venue above will be:

Caryl Churchill’s Seagulls: Seagulls, written by celebrated British playwright Caryl Churchill, describes the story as a sharp meditation on the power and impermanence of creativity, via the life and career of a very ordinary woman – who just happens to have one extraordinary power. The wonderful Sarah Carradine directs this Australian stage premiere of Churchill’s play.

Time Flies by David Ives: Time Flies is a delightful fantasy written by the famous David Ives that telescopes a lifetime into a single day, full of intense yearning and discovery. Effusive with tenderness and joy, its motto seems to be – humans, seize the day! Time Flies make’s it’s Sydney stage premiere in this event, and is directed by John Griston.

And finally, Christopher Durang’s wild comedy, The Actors’ Nightmare details an encounter; a surreal profusion of misplaced scenes from famous plays – all mediated via the fear and confusion of a forlorn accountant who unaccountably finds himself on stage. John Griston also directs this performance.

Doors open one hour prior to performances on both days, with dedicated disability seating, so make sure to grab all of your play-loving friends and get in on two days of local entertainment at the Eternity Playhouse.
