Arts Wednesday 4 December 2019

In the first half hour, I’ll be playing the second in a series of three conversations about unusual musical instruments and this week it is the Stroviol (or Strohviol) and its player, Marcus Holden. I recorded this conversation early 2013 and Marcus brought the instrument to the studio and played live.

My special guest at 11:00 am is Melanie Eastburn, curator at AGNSW, talking about Japan Supernatural, the current exhibition at the gallery. Melanie is one of those gifted people who can make very complex ideas easy and understandable and I, for one, needed that unravelling!

Music related to Japan punctuates this conversation and we will finish with a piece commissioned by the gallery for this exhibition. It’s suitably spooky!

Do join me.
