an interactive theatre play that guarantees fun for old and young

January 12, 2016

Join Ratty, Mole, Badger, Otter, Portly and, of course, Mr Toad, as they return to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne and Sydney this summer, bringing to life Kenneth Grahame‘s immortal story of life on the riverbank.

This critically acclaimed outdoor theatre production delivers music, songs and laughs. There is fun for young and old as the Head Chief Rabbit transforms the audience into rabbits with a waggle of the ears and a wiggle of the nose. The young ‘rabbits’ are encouraged to get involved in the action, and are given every opportunity to scream out loud, sing along and become part of the adventure. With laughs and surprises for children and adults, this is interactive theatre at its best.

Celebrating 28 years in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and 15 years in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, The Wind in the Willows is Australia’s best-loved affordable family entertainment, so pack a picnic, pack the kids and join in the fun!

So pack a picnic full of goodies that you like to eat and drink, a rug to sit on, a hat, some sunscreen and insect repellent. Warm clothes for the 6pm show as sometimes it can get cool in the early evening.

The production takes place in two locations. Roughly 45 minutes into the production all the audience make a move to another area of the garden. If you require assistane with this move, please notify Box office staff – they will be happy to help. Once moved, the show does not return to the original location, so make sure you pack everything up.
