A journalism student from Germany bringing her voice to Eastside Radio
Hii,
I’m Alina, 21 years old and originally from Germany, and now I’m living my best life here in Sydney. I’m someone who loves the simple things: sitting together with friends for hours, cooking dinner and trying new recipes, hosting game nights, and being out in nature. I love traveling and discovering different cultures, which is probably one of the reasons why moving to Australia felt like the right step for me.
Music is also a huge part of my life. I honestly couldn’t imagine a day without it. The first thing I do every morning is put on a song to wake up and really start the day. I especially love oldies from the 80s and 90s; there’s just something timeless about them.
I’m currently studying journalism, but my interest in stories started long before university. I’ve always been curious about people. I don’t just want to hear what happened; I want to know the story behind the person. What drives them, what they care about, and what shaped them. I love meeting new personalities and learning from different perspectives. That’s one of the reasons I fell in love with radio. I’ve also had the chance to gain hands-on experience abroad, like during my internship at Hitradio Namibia, which showed me how exciting it is to work in international radio.
So why Eastside Radio?
Eastside Radio brings people together. It gives space to culture, diversity, and authentic voices. Being part of a community station in a city as vibrant as Sydney is an incredible opportunity for me. I’m excited to meet new people, share stories, and keep learning on air.
