Where Light Settles – Jasmine Myra

Where Light Settles finds British saxophonist and composer Jasmine Myra expanding her sound while keeping the emotional honesty that has become her hallmark. Recorded over five days in Leeds with her longtime ensemble and an expanded string section, the album reflects on growth, resilience, and what Myra calls “those bittersweet moments which are heart-breaking but so important.” Rather than chasing big solos, she focuses on melody, texture, and ensemble interplay. The result is music that feels patient and deeply human. Strings, harp, piano, and saxophone move together with remarkable grace, creating an atmosphere that is reflective without becoming heavy. It is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most profound journeys happen quietly.

Antahkarana – The Three Seas

Antahkarana is the latest work from Bengali-Australian ensemble The Three Seas. Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and produced by Sarathy Korwar, the album brings together Baul poetry, Bengali chants, Himalayan folk traditions, dub, rock, and jazz improvisation. The title comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “inner instrument,” referring to the meeting place of memory, intuition, identity, and soul. Those ideas run throughout the record. Ancient devotional traditions sit comfortably beside contemporary grooves, creating music that feels both grounded and exploratory. Led by musicians including Matt Keegan, Raju Das Baul, Deo Ashis Mothey, Gaurab Chatterjee, and Brendan Clark, The Three Seas build bridges between cultures without ever forcing the connection. The result is warm, hypnotic, and wonderfully alive.
