Endlessness – Nala Sinephro
‘Endlessness’ by multi-instrumentalist and jazz virtuoso Nala Sinephro is a masterclass in ambient music. Featuring an immersive blend of analogue and electronic textures, it captures all of life’s beauty and poignancy in the span of 45 minutes. The album revolves around a continuous, tender arpeggio that lies beneath its 10 tracks, evoking feelings of rebirth and perpetuity that tug at our heartstrings. ‘Endlessness’ can best be described as mesmerizing and mind expanding—on Continuum 7, the album’s seventh track, Sinephro slows and transposes the arpeggio, creating an immersive synth-driven soundscape that distorts, bends and swirls in magnificent fashion.
Flight b741 – King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have not missed a beat on their 26th studio album, ‘Flight b741’. The band—initially conceived of as a psychedelic garage-rock group—have ventured into every genre imaginable since their formation, from metal and progressive rock to electronic and microtonal music. ‘Flight b741’, in many ways, sounds like a back-to-basics project. Coloured by overdriven guitar, crunchy textures and clanging cymbals, the album is a callback to the blues and roots rock bands of the ’70s. Field of Vision, the fourth track, is immediately electrifying, featuring powerful riffs and explosive guitar solos that knock you out cold.
