Special Screening: Alvin’s Harmonious World of Opposites

Nothing is more fun than to see an indy Aussie film at an Eastside sponsor cinema!

Starring Tek-Kim Pok leading a rag-tag fleet of local artists, Alvin’s Harmonious World of Opposites is a new Australian feature film fresh from winning the Directors’ Choice Award at the 2015 Sydney Underground Film Festival.

This Sunday the movie will be given a one-off special Sydney screening at the Randwick Ritz Cinema, followed by a Q&A with the Director, Platon Theodoris, and cast.

The varied and vivid talents of Teik-Kim Pok, Vashti Hughes, Indonesian gospel queen Dessy Fitri, and comic writer-performer Nitin Vengelukar are on display in a tale of interior life, writ small and large at once. The film was made in Sydney, Kalgoorlie, Jakarta and West Java, an unofficial Australian/Indonesian collaboration. Half the soundtrack was provided by the Indonesian vintage jazz band White Shoes and the Couples Company who performed earlier this year at Freda’s in Chippendale. Interviews, links, pictures and more can be found on the Alvin’s Harmonious World website.

No ticket sales at the door, this one is pre-book only, so you’ll need to get onto it!
