Chantelle and Tim interviewed Prof Francisco Mojica, as he gave a talk at the University of New South Wales in July 2018. Francisco discovered the mechanism, the repeating sequence of DNA in bacteria,  that was later used as the gene editing technique CRISPR. The scientific world is captivated by this revolutionary technology, since it is easier, cheaper and more efficient than previous strategies for modifying DNA.
