Presented by Gemma Purves
Gemma is relatively new to Eastside Radio and joined the drive team in late 2015, yet her association with the medium goes back to childhood, pre OH&S where she could often be found snoozing in a basinet under a desk at our national broadcaster’s old HQ in Kings Cross. Fast forward a few years she finds herself back in her hometown after over a decade working in financial media and living in London.
On Friday Drive she’ll not just fill you in on the best and perhaps underreported events happening around town but also keep you up to date on the local issues that matter and what our local councils are up to. We’ll also pay special attention to inclusive events and policy– having spent time as a carer Gemma is aware that inclusive events and venues can improve life not just for those with disabilities but their friends and families also.
The music will be slightly less experimental than her earlier graveyard time slot, but will give priority to the new, the local, and touring plus whatever earworm has infected her head over the previous week.
