BBC First 2015 British Film Festival
Taking place around the whole of Australia, the BBC First British Festival returns for its third year in Sydney. Presented by Palace, with a standout selection of international festival favourite and box office hits from the British Isles, from the 27th of October to the 18th of November.
Fresh from its premiere at Cannes Film Festival where it was nominated for a Palme D’Or and starring veteran British actor Michael Caine is the highly anticipated opening night film YOUTH. Realised by Paolo Sorrentino, the movie follows the story of two old friends vacation Fred and Mick, together they muse sympathetically and with curiosity at those that surround them, Mick’s enthusiastic young writers, and the hotel guests.
Other highlights include 45 YEARS, SUFRAGETTE, BROOKLYN and 2015 retrospective, LOVE ACTUALLY-A CENTURY OF BRITISH ROMANCE. And beyond all of these greatest British films are hidden the most famous English actors of the cinema like Helena Bonham Carter, Simon Pegg or even Pierce Brosnan. For connoisseurs, lots of rising stars, Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Kit Harrington (Game of thrones), Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) and so many others !
The festival will draw to a close on Wednesday 18th of November at the Palace Norton Street with THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY by Matt Brown. A movie based on the stunning and inspirational biography of a genuine mathematical genius in the early twentieth century, Srinivasa Ramanujan. Be there at 6.30pm to taste some Cake Wines, Schweppes “Lost in London” Cocktails and delicious treats by Blond Catering !
