Eastside Radio’s training is designed to create positive entry in the media landscape by offering sustainable, broadcasting development to emerging First Nations talent. Eastside will provide all manner of learning and hands on experience across the station’s multiple broadcasting avenues and back office operations. From research and producing to on air broadcasting and panelling roles as well as digital content including podcasting. Technical opportunities focusing on studio and station support plus online backend development are also prevalent.
Our learning objectives are focused on giving you real, practical skills that matter in today’s media landscape. You’ll have the chance to develop technical proficiency with professional broadcasting equipment, gain confidence through live programming and master the art of storytelling across radio, podcasting and digital media. It’s all about collaborative projects and real-world activities that build your teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
Through our specialised learning pathways, you can choose the journey that suits you best, from foundational technical training to immersive “on-the-job” experiences. We even have dedicated on air opportunities which are produced and presented entirely by you as well as opportunities to be mentored by our award-winning presenters. This hands-on approach ensures you aren’t just learning the theory, you’re actually making radio.

Eastside Radio is committed to amplifying First Nations voices, knowledge and experience, both in our programming and our identity. We actively produce and broadcast dedicated Acknowledgment of Country promos across our programs. We consistently prioritise Indigenous visual art, theatre, literature, and music, bridging the gap between local creators and broader metropolitan audiences. Programs like Boondi Arvos (broadcasting live from our Bondi Pavilion studios) act as vital platforms for First Nations sounds and talent. Finally, Eastside Radio stood firmly with the community during the Voice to Parliament referendum, reinforcing our commitment to Indigenous self-determination and representation in media.
